February's Most Worn, Everyday Eye Look

This month, I have had one eye look that I've gone to day after day. I'd make some slight adjustments on the minor details, but the overall eye has been the same look and feel. Even though February is a short month, wearing something this much means I must share it with you.

This is a shimmery, neutral look that would complement anyone. Since it's a neutral eye, you don't have to worry about it clashing with your outfit; it'll go with just about anything. This eye look revolves around Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze which I showed in my Drugstore Haul at the end of January, and as a spoiler alert, it's making it in my February Monthly that will be up on Friday.

NOTD: Lavender and Sparkles!

I decided to give myself a manicure and a fresh coat of polish because I needed a little pick me up. I wanted something girly, sweet, and feminine. I selected a light purple and a pink and purple sparkle polish for an accent nail. It's been several months since I've painted an accent nail for an added pop. I love the way it looks and it always brings a smile to my face.

OOTD: Stripes + Mint

H&M Black and White Striped Shirt, Cello Mint Jeans

When I was getting dressed today I was gravitating toward stripes. I love wearing them because I think they're classic and fresh. Instead of pairing the stripes with blue jeans or black pants as I usually do, I reached for my mint jeans instead. I later realized that I had seen a similar combination earlier in the week on Lauren Conrad's blog. In the Stripes for Spring post written by Anna James, she had paired a mint top with a wide black and white striped Kate Spade skirt. I think it looked amazing, and elegant too, but way more dressy than my day required me to be.

Winter's Most Worn Tag

Spring is a month away; it officially begins March 20th this year. While I live in Florida and winter isn't much like winter in other parts of the country, I still wanted to take part in the Winter Most Worn tag. I first saw this tag on Sunbeams and Daisy Dreams blog.

Most worn nail polish?
OPI Dim Sum Plum

Without a doubt, OPI Dim Sum Plum. I have given myself countless mani/pedi's with this polish and have included it in two Nail of the Day posts, one with just the polish and most recently my Valentine's Day nail tutorial. It's a pretty berry color that's perfect for the winter months.

Emerald: Color of the Year

In December of last year, Pantone announced their annual color of the year for 2013: Emerald. I'm really excited about this because it's one of my favorite colors. As a May baby, I just could be a little partial to it since it's my birthstone, not to mention, it's so rich and dazzling. I also think it's a flattering shade of green for so many, especially fair skin girls like myself.

Nail of the Day: Elephantastic Pink

About a month ago I was on Pintrest and came across a pink polish that I fell in love with. After seeing it online, I searched for this polish at every location, to check their nail display. I'm happy to say, I'm now the proud owner of OPI's Elephantastic Pink. This polish is so fun, and it reminds me of Barbie; pretty in pink!

Valentine's Day Hair

Today is the last installment of my four-part Valentine's Day series. I'll be showing you how I did my hair for this holiday date look. If you haven't already seen the three previous posts, be sure to check out how I've done my nails, what I'm wearing, and how I did the feminine makeup for the 14th.

I wanted a sweet, slightly retro/girly style to go with my feminine makeup, so I opted for a ponytail with curls. If you've seen my other hair tutorials, you know I like to take a basic look and upgrade it (for examples, check out my fishtail braid and braided top knot). Keep reading and I'll go over the steps on how you can achieve this ponytail look.

Valentine's Day Makeup

This Valentine's Day I wanted to do a classic, feminine look; winged eye liner with red lips. I'll show you how easy it is to achieve the symmetrical winged eye using a liquid eye liner with my step by step instructions. Also, there's no need to worry about mixing Valentine's Day and red lips! I'll tell you about the lip color I use that doesn't transfer.

Valentine's Day Outfit

I had so much fun doing the three part series for New Year's Eve, (showing my outfit, makeup, and hair) that I wanted to do another series for Valentine's Day. In my last post, I did a Valentine's Day inspired nail tutorial with hearts. Today, I'll continue the theme for these posts with my outfit for February 14th.

Valentines Day Nail with ♥'s

I wanted to begin my Valentine's Day Look tutorials today to give you some ideas for the holiday, since it's only eight days away. No matter what your plans are this Valentine's Day, you can have a cute, but subtle, nail look for the occasion.

I got the idea for this nail look from Pinterest, but unfortunately, because the image was not linked back to a website, I don't know who to credit for my inspiration.

American Heart Disease Month

Today's post is different than my typical posts, but I wanted to take this opportunity to to talk about a very important topic, Heart Disease. February is American Heart Month, so this is the perfect opportunity to share some information on the subject.

I know some of my readers live outside the US, but Heart Disease is not an issue just for Americans (although I will be using US stats). Most of us know someone that has been or will be affected by Heart Disease. It's the leading cause of death for both men and women in the US, resulting in 1 in 4 deaths.

The American Heart Association's campaign, Go Red for Women, is celebrating it's 10th year, this year and is targeted at women to bring awareness of Heart Disease and its prevalence among women. I think it's a common misconception that it's primarily an issue that affects men, but as mentioned before, it's the leading cause of death among women, too. For women alone, it causes 1 in 3 deaths, which is approximately one woman every minute. It kills more women than all three of the next leading causes of death combined, that includes all forms of cancer.

The purpose of this post is not to scare anyone. I simply want to help raise awareness. With so many people being affected by Heart Disease, it's important to know what it is, who's at risk, how to lower your risk, and what are some warning signs for medical emergencies of Heart Attack, Stroke, and Cardiac Arrest. Knowing this information could help you or someone you love. Feel free to share this link with others or direct them to the American Heart Association or Go Red for Women for more information.

January Favorites

Makeup:
Rimmel Clean Finish in 130 True Ivory, ELF Studio Eyebrow Kit in Medium

Rimmel Clean Finish Foundation- I've been using this foundation for most of this month, and I'm hooked. I love that my face looks dewy and fresh when I wear it. I think it's a great drugstore find at under $5. If anyone's been battling dry skin this winter or is looking for a less matte look, this product may be for you. I can do a full review on the Clean Finish foundation in another post, so let me know in the comments if you'd be interested in that.

E.L.F. Studio Eyebrow Kit- Another new purchase this month and instant favorite has been the ELF Studio Eyebrow Kit in Medium. I've been filling in my brows with brown eye shadow for a while, but I've never had an actual eyebrow powder or wax until now. This product has made such a difference! If you'd like to know the specifics and see before and after pictures, chech out the full review.
